Latham, NY – Sage's women's tennis team hosted the Pioneers of Utica College on Sunday afternoon in the final match of the year played indoors at Tri-City Tennis Center. Sage collected the impressive 8-1 win and finishes the 2015 season with a 3-11 mark, while Utica drops to 0-12.

Sunday's action represented the final match of the careers of senior co-captains, Katie Schultz (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park) and Melissa Estremera (Millbrook, NY/Millbrook). Katie Schultz posted a win at No. 1 singles as she topped Rose Zaloom, 6-3, 5-7, 10-6 in the tie-breaker. Estremera was a 6-1, 6-1 victor at No. 2 singles as she beat Ana Fitzpatrick.

Both Estremera and Schultz have distinguished themselves in the classroom, earning awards from the Skyline Conference and the ITA as Scholar-Athletes throughout their careers.

Katie Schultz teamed at No. 1 doubles with her sister, rookie Emily Schultz (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park) and they collected an 8-2 win.

Emily Schultz beat Doni Look, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles, while sophomore Lindsey Tolman (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) was a winner at No. 5 singles over Shannon Filmore, 6-1, 6-4.

Sophomore Samantha Dibbell (Hunter, NY/Tannersville Central) racked up a strong win at No. 6 singles, beating Christa Pham, 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles, Sage swept all three flights as the tandems of Schultz and Schultz won 8-2 and then Estremera and junior Alex Faas (Rensselear, NY/Columbia) added an 8-1 win. Tollman and Dibble posted were victorious at No. 3 doubles with their 8-2 score.
