Troy, NY – Sage's women's tennis team hosted the Spartans of Castleton University on Tuesday afternoon in the team's 2015 home opener. The Spartans posted the 8-1 win to improve to 3-1, while Sage drops to 0-4.

Castleton held a 3-0 lead after doubles as they took all three matches.

Sage's lone victory came at No. 1 singles as graduate performer and team co-captain Katie Schultz (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park) tallied a 6-3, 6-2 win over senior Sara Novenstern (Chappaqua, NY/Horace Greeley). Novenstern teamed with rookie Jackie Lisak (Rochester, NY/West Irondequoit) at No. 1 doubles and beat Katie Schultz and her partner, junior Alex Faas (Rensselaer, NY/Columbia), 8-3.

Novenstern is 2-0 at No. 1 singles on the year, while Schultz is now 2-2 at No. 1 singles for the Gators.

The Gators are back in action on September 18 hosting St. Joseph's University-Brooklyn in a 4 p.m. Skyline Conference match to be held at Prospect Park. Castleon is back in action on September 16 hosting Plymouth State at 4 p.m.
