RSC Edged 1-0 at Saint John Fisher

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Russell Sage College was edged 1-0 this afternoon at Saint John Fisher.

Junior midfielder Kate Rachwal scored the lone goal of the Saturday Empire 8 Conference matinee in the 12th minute.  Midfielder Jenn Kirker, a grad student, registered the assist.

Freshman goalkeeper Olivia Horan (Mechanicville, NY/Mechanicville) (4-3-3) made five saves, while junior forward Julia Hanlon (Averill Park, NY/Averill Park) and freshman midfielder Katelyn Nelson (East Islip, NY/East Islip) topped the Gators in shots attempted.

The Cardinals (6-3-4/3-0-3 E8) blitzed RSC early, outshooting the visitors 8-1 and holding a 6-0 advantage on corners during the opening half. Shots ended up 11-2, while corners were 8-2, both in favor of SJFU.

RSC (5-4-3/2-2-2 E8) is in the midst of a stretch of four consecutive road contests. The run wraps up on Monday at MCLA.
