Gators Fall at Nazareth in E8 Semifinals

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Russell Sage College fell 2-0 at Nazareth this afternoon in the Empire 8 Conference Championship Tournament Semifinals.

Nazareth (7-4-7), which out-shot the Gators 15-10, scored both of its goals late in the second half to punch its ticket into Saturday's title game.

Sophomore midfield Caroline Gee put the second-seeded Golden Flyers on the board with 9:51 remaining. Senior midfielder Geena Morotti registered the assist. Sophomore midfielder Margaret Partlow (Mechanicville, NY/Shen) added an insurance goal 8:02 later.

Goalkeeper Mickaela Buzzy (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta), a graduate student, (Loss, 7-4-0) made 10 saves for the third-seeded Gators (8-10-1).

Sophomore goalkeeper Annika Monfort (Win, 7-7-4) stopped six RSC shots.

Nazareth looks to repeat as E8 Tournament Champions on Saturday against the winner of St. John Fisher and Utica.


Notes: 2022 marked the third time that RSC qualified for the E8 Championship Tournament…The Gators won the 2020-21 tournament title...RSC has made the semifinals in each of its three E8 postseason runs…Junior forward Kennedy Jones (Albany, NY/Albany) was named the E8 Player of the Week on Monday…She netted both game-winning goals in the 2-0 week…The newcomer, who scored the game-winner in the final three regular season contests, helped the Gators earn a home E8 playoff game with a goal and an assist in the final 2:04 of Saturday's comeback win at Houghton...Forward Natalie Ricci (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes), a graduate student, is tied for fifth in school history with 71 career points...The three-time first-team All-E8 pick closed the fall sixth in program records with 30 career goals.
