Skidmore hands Gators 2-0 setback

ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College dropped tonight's non-conference game to visiting Skidmore 2-0 at the ACP Athletic Complex.

The Thoroughbreds (3-1-0) put 12 shots on goal, compared to only two for RSC, and held a 6-3 advantage on corners.

Sophomore goalkeeper Emma DeMatteo (Groton, NY/Groton Central) made 10 saves for the Gators (1-3-1).

Junior midfielder Kyra Russman-Araya opened the scoring in the 39th minute, putting a crossing pass from sophomore midfielder Ella Stone into the net.

With 24:48 left, senior forward Isabella Nevin doubled the Thoroughbred advantage with an unassisted tally. 

Looking ahead, RSC concludes a stretch of three-straight home games on Saturday afternoon vs. Elmira. The Empire 8 Conference opener is set to begin at 2:00 pm.

Bouton) was named the E8 Defensive Player of the Week on Monday...The rookie registered a goal and an assist in Saturday's win vs. MCLA...The Gators return 12 players from last season…Forward Natalie Ricci (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes), a graduate student, headlines the dozen…She began the fall ranked 11th in program records with 53 career points…Junior forward Marissa Key (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury), who registered nine points last season, and all three goalkeepers are also back.
