Gators Defeat Visiting Keene State 2-0

ALBANY, N.Y. – Senior forward Hallie Klosterman (Modena, NY/Wallkill) recorded a goal and an assist as Russell Sage College defeated visiting Keene State 2-0 tonight at the ACP Athletic Complex.

In the 40th minute, freshman forward Teagan Breton (Troy, NY/Catholic Central) opened the scoring with her first collegiate goal. Klosterman took a pass from senior midfielder Angela Gonzalez (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls Central) to break in alone on Keene State goalkeeper Rebecca Koziara. The first-team All-Empire 8 Conference player slid the ball past the charging Owl keeper for Breton to tap into the open net.

Klosterman (above) added to the RSC lead in the 60th minute, depositing a feed from senior forward Natalie Ricci (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) past Koziara.

Freshman goalkeepers Kierstin Lynch (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) (Win, 7-4-0) and Emma DeMatteo (Groton, NY/Groton Central) combined to make four saves in the non-conference victory.  Koziara (Loss, 2-3-0) stopped four RSC shots.

Looking ahead, both squads are in action on Saturday afternoon.  The Gators (7-8-2/2-4-1 Empire 8), now winners of two-straight, will host Houghton at 2:00 pm.  Meanwhile, Keene State (6-11-1) will be at Rhode Island College at 1:00 pm.
