Ricci's goal lifts Gators past Delhi

DELHI, N.Y. – Senior forward Natalie Ricci (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) scored in the 82nd minute to put the Russell Sage College women's soccer team past SUNY Delhi 1-0 this afternoon. 

Ricci now has 19 career goals, tied for the No. 13 spot on the career scoring list. Her 43 career points ranks 15th as she moved ahead of  Michelle Lessard (1993-1994), who had 42 points.

The non-conference game was evenly played. The hosts out-shot RSC 23-20 and held a slim 5-4 advantage on corner kicks.

Freshman goalkeeper Kierstin Lynch (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) was up to the challenge, recording a career-high 16 saves for her second-consecutive shutout. The effort is tied for fifth in program single-game records (Schuyler Kokernak, vs. RPI 2004).

SUNY Delhi senior goalkeeper Rachael Scoones stopped 12 Gator shots.

Looking ahead, both teams are on the road this Saturday. Sage (4-5-2) goes for its third win in-a-row at St. John Fisher at 1:00 pm. Meanwhile, the Broncos (6-4) are at Maine Maritime at noon.


Gator-Aid: The game on Saturday, October 16th vs. Nazareth will be the inaugural "GatorAid" game...The 2:00 pm matinee will serve as a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.
