Alfred stymies Gators in E8 Women's Soccer Play

Alfred, NY — Russell Sage College women's soccer team traveled to Alfred University for an Empire 8 contest. The host Saxons rallied from a 2-0 deficit to post a 5-2 win on Saturday. The Saxons reeled off four unanswered goals in earning the key league win and improve to 5-2-2- overall and 1-0 in the league. RSC drops to 2-4-2 overall and 0-1-1 in the E8.

Senior forward Natalie Ricci (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) spotted the Gators a 1-0 lead with her first of two goals in the match at 15:45. She added her second goal at 28:30.

Alfred's Alyssa Smith scored at 33:00 to give the Gators a 2-1 halftime lead before the Saxons scored four second half goals including a second from Smith.  

Rookie keeper Kiersten Lynch (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) took the loss after making six saves on 14 shots with five goals allowed. She stands at 2-1 in net. Alfred's Hannah Fuller picked up the win after making four saves in the match.

Ricci leads the Gators in scoring this fall with four goals and eight points. Overall on her career, she now has 18 career goals and 41 total points. She stands tied for 14th in goals with Ariannah Logan (2015-2018), while her career points is currently 16th at RSC.

The Gators are back in action on September 29 hosting Hamilton College at ACP Stadium at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
