RSC Women's Soccer Falls to Plattsburgh State

Albany, NY — Russell Sage College women's soccer team hosted the Cardinals of Plattsburgh State on Sunday afternoon. The two teams played to a scoreless tie at the intermission before Plattsburgh came away with the 2-0 victory. With the win, Plattsburgh is now 1-0-2, while the Gators drop to 1-1-1.

Plattsburgh's sophomore midfielder Avery Durgan (West Chazy, NY/Beekmantown) broke the 0-0 deadlock as she scored on a pass from senior midfielder Allison Seidman (Commack, NY/Commack) at the 46:51 mark. The goal was the second of the year for Durgan and was a shot directed from the right side to the upper center corner of the net out of the reach of RSC's senior goalie Mickaela Buzzy (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta).

Plattsburgh increased their lead to 2-0 as senior forward Emily Frodyma (Watervliet, NY/Catholic Central) added her second goal of the year on a pass from sophomore defender Nora Fitzgerald (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle) at 82:02. The cross came from the left side about 25 yards out and went to the right side of the net for the final tally of the match.

Buzzy finished with eight saves in taking the loss. Buzzy now has 99 career saves in goal for the Gators and stands at 0-1-1 in goal this fall.  Plattsburgh's junior Julia Ennis (Carmel, NY/Kennedy Catholic) earned the win as she posted four saves and is now 1-0-2 in net this fall.
