Gators drop road match at Hamilton

HAMILTON POSTS 4-1 VICTORY OVER SAGE IN WOMEN'S SOCCER ACTION

Clinton, NY — The Sage Colleges' women's soccer team travelled to Hamilton College for a non-conference match-up with the Continentals. Hamilton posted a 4-1 win over the Gators to improve to 9-4-1 overall, while the setback puts Sage at 7-8 on the season.

The two teams played to a scoreless first 20 minutes before Hamilton got on the scoreboard as Rylie Mutton scored on a pass from Kayleigh Harris at 23:51. Moments later, Bella Roselli added the second goal of the afternoon giving Hamilton a 2-0 lead at the break.

Seconds into the second half, Ashlyn Gaulin scored on a feed from Allie Reed to give Hamilton the 3-0 lead. Sage's sophomore forward Hallie Klosterman (Modena, NY/Wallkill) scored on a pass from senior Maegan Villa (Marlboro, NY/Washingtonville) at 52:33 to cut the lead to two goals.

Alex Fontana scored the final goal of the afternoon at 84:44 to make the final score 4-1 Hamilton.

Sage's rookie keeper Kallan Shertzer (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) made 13 saves but falls to 7-8 in goal this season.  Hamilton's Rachel Pike made two saves in earning the win and is now 9-3-1 in goal.

With her assist on Tuesday, Villa now boasts 12 career assists and ranks in a tie for the No. 10 spot on the Gator career assist list. She is now No. 6 in career games played with 70, while her 64 career starts is now sixth best.

The Gators will be back in action on October 26 and will host Empire 8 opponent St. John Fisher College in a noon match-up at ACP Stadium. Sage will honor their 2019 seniors in conjunction with Senior Day. They include Maegan Villa, Kristin Silk (Freehold, NY/Greenville), and Giovanna Fichera (Cornwall, NY/Cornwall Central).
