Women's soccer team tops Wildcats, 2-0

Marcy, NY — The Sage Colleges' women's soccer team travelled to SUNY-Poly for a non-conference match with the Wildcats. The Gators netted a 2-0 road win to improve to 5-4, while the loss puts SUNY-Poly at 4-3-1.

Sage's senior midfielder Maegan Villa (Marlboro, NY/Washingtonville) scored the first goal of the night on a pass from sophomore forward Natalie Ricci (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) at 40:51 of the match. The two hooked up once again as Ricci scored on a pass from Villa at 43:44 giving Sage a 2-0 lead at the intermission. Sage held on for the shutout win as they connected for 23 shots in the game.

Sage's rookie keeper Kallan Shertzer (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) finished with five saves in the action in earning the shutout win and has now collected four shutouts for the Gators this fall.

Sage is back in action on October 5 travelling to Alfred University for a 7 p.m. road Empire 8 match on Saturday night.
