Trimblett Honored for Academic Success; Selected to 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District Team

SAGE WOMEN'S SOCCER PLAYER SAMANTHA TRIMBLETT NAMED TO 2018 GOOGLE CLOUD ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT TEAM

Albany, NY— The day after earning a spot on the 2018 Empire 8 All-Star First Team, Sage's senior women's soccer player Samantha Trimblett (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) added another honor to her resume. Trimblett was named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Women's Soccer Team, selected by CoSIDA.

An accomplished student-athlete, this is the second straight selection for Trimblett who has a 3.70 grade-point-average as a graphic and media design major at Sage.  With her selection to the Empire 8 All-Star Team, she is the first Gator women's soccer player to earn a spot on the Empire 8 First Team in women's soccer.

Trimblett set the career record for assists at Sage and finished her stellar career having been the Gators' leading scorer in all four of her seasons on the team. She closed her career with 22 points on nine goals with four assists and two game-winning goals in 2018.  She had one of the best careers of any Gator in women's soccer history having guided the Gators to post-season appearances in three of her four years on the team.

She closed her time in a Sage uniform as the all-time career leader in assists at Sage with 24 and finishes with 114 career points, ranking second all-time in Sage women's soccer annals. She tallied 45 career goals, which is third best at Sage.

Trimblett earned Empire 8 Player of the Week honors in the fall of 2017 to become the first Gator honored with the weekly player citation as the Gators were new to the Empire 8 last fall. As a junior, she was also recognized by the Empire 8 with a selection to the Empire 8 Second Team.

She was also honored two weeks ago as the Empire 8 Offensive Player of the Week after a 2-0 week for Sage with her adding four goals and a hat trick in the team's win over Houghton and helped the Sage team collect the No. 4 seed in the Empire 8 Tournament.

Sage capped the 2018 campaign with their first appearance in the Empire 8 tournament after garnering the No. 4 seed. The Gators posted a record of 10-7-2 on the season with a record of 4-3-1 in the Empire 8.

The 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Women's Soccer Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if necessary) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.

The Google Cloud Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed in links provided above and are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada.

The Division II and III Google Cloud Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2018-19 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
