Sage and Nazareth play to 2-2 OT Tie in E8 Action

Albany, NY—The Sage Colleges' women's soccer team hosted the Golden Flyers of Nazareth College on Saturday afternoon in an Empire 8 contest. The day was filled with numerous activities as the Gators held their second annual Coaches vs. Cancer event.  The game went to double overtime, ending in a 2-2 tie. Sage is now 4-2-2 overall and 0-1-1 in the league. Nazareth is now 3-2-3 overall and 0-0-2 in the Empire 8.

Sage struck first as senior forward Samantha Trimblett (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) added her third goals of the season at the 5:54 mark as she had a break away and was able to bury the goal from about 21 yards out. Sage held a 1-0 lead for about five minutes before Nazareth's senior midfielder Mary LoCicero (Fairport, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) tallied her fourth score of the year at the 11:31 mark to tie the match.

Junior midfielder Maegan Villa (Marlboro, NY/Washingtonville) gave Sage a 2-1 lead with her first goal of the year on a feed from rookie Hallie Klosterman (Modena, NY/Wallkill) at the 54:31.

Golder Flyer rookie midfielder Morgan Siewert (Ballston Spa, NY/Saratoga Springs) scored her first career goal at the 77:50 mark tying the match at 2-2.

The two teams played 20 minutes of overtime and despite several chances by both teams, the match ended in a 2-2 tie for the day.

For Trimblett, she now has 39 career goals, which ranks third all-time on the Sage career goal list, while she boasts 98 career points (39g, 20a) and is also third in career points.

Sage's rookie goalies Mickaela Buzzy (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) made nine saves in the action, while Nazareth's junior goalie Hannah Miller (Butler, PA/Butler) had 16 saves.

Sage is back in action on September 29 hosting Emerson College in a noon non-conference match-up at ACP's Field. The Golden Flyers return to action taking on cross-town rival the University of Rochester on September 25 at UR at 7 p.m.
