Trimblett scores twice as Sage tops Elmira 4-0 on Saturday

Elmira, NY- The Sage Colleges' women's soccer team made a trip to Elmira College for an Empire 8 contest on Saturday afternoon. Sage collected a 4-0 win to earn the Gators' first Empire 8 conference win.  The win puts Sage at 5-8-1 overall and 1-4-1 in the league. Elmira drops to 1-12-1 overall and 0—5-1 in the league.                   


Sage's junior forward Samantha Trimblett (Monroe, NY/Monroe Woodbury) put the Gators on the scoreboard in the first half with her score at 3:42 on a pass from rookie Reagan Fesette (Plattsburgh, NY/Beekmantown) at 3:42. Trimblett scored again at 48:30 to put the Gators up 2-0, before sophomore Maegan Villa (Rock Tavern, NY/Washingtonville) gave Sage the 3-0 lead with a goal at 77:34 on a feed from rookie Angelina Miller (Gardiner, NY/Wallkill Senior).

Junior midfielder Dominique Puglisi (Schenectady, NY/Scotia Glenville) capped the day for the Gators with a goal at 85:33 for her third goal of the season.

Trimblett leads Sage in scoring this season with her nine goals and 21 points and is also making her climb in the Sage women's soccer all-time scoring list. After Saturday's match, the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-District nominee, now has 92 career points on 36 goals and 20 assists. She is third all-time in career goals, while standing second in assists and third in career points and is poised to become the third Sage women's soccer player to boast 100 or more career points.

Sage's junior goalie Emma Augustine (Wawarsing, NY/Ellenville) collected her fourth shutout of the year as she turned in three saves in the match to earn the win.

Next up for the Gators, they will host Utica College in the final Empire 8 regular-season match of the fall on October 24 at 4 p.m. at ACP's Athletic Complex.
