Women's soccer falls to Houghton, 1-0

Albany, NY- The Sage Colleges' women's soccer team hosted the Highlanders of Houghton College in Saturday afternoon in an empire 8 match. Senior Kate Taggart (Latham, NY/Shaker) scored the only goal of the afternoon in helping Houghton to the 1-0 win. Houghton improves to 4-7-1 overall and 2-2-1 in the league. Sage drops to 4-8-1 overall and 0-4-1 in the league.

Taggart scored her first goal of the season at 33:07 to give the Highlanders a 1-0 lead just before the half. The score would stay at 1-0 Houghton despite the Gators outshooting Houghton, 18-8.

Sage's junior goalie Emma Augustine (Wawarsing, NY/Ellenville) made three saves in the contest, while Houghton's junior goalie Sadie Dunnett (Quispamis, NB, Canada) made 12 saves in the action and picked up her third shutout this fall.

Sage honored their lone senior, Alyssa Lepper (Remsen, NY/Poland Central) prior to the contest in conjunction with Senior Day.

Next up for the Gators, they will travel to Elmira College on October 21 for a Noon empire 8 match. Houghton College is back in action on October 18 hosting Elmira College at 7 p.m. in an Empire 8 match.
