Late-game goals helps Nazareth Top Sage, 3-2

Rochester, NY- The Sage Colleges' women's soccer team travelled to Nazareth College on Sunday afternoon for an Empire 8 match-up with the Golden Flyers. Nazareth used a late goal to collect the 3-2 home win over Sage on Sunday afternoon. With the win, Nazareth is now 8-4-1 overall and 3-1 in the Empire 8, while Sage drops to 4-7-1 overall and 0-3-1 in the league.

Nazareth took a 2-0 lead with a pair of first half goals. Sage scored in the opening minutes of the second half as rookie Lydia Malkiewicz Schenectady, NY/Colonie Central) collected her first collegiate score at 46:26 on a pass from junior midfielder Dominique Puglisi (Schenectady, NY/Scotia Glenville).

Junior forward Samantha Trimblett (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) tied the action with her team-leading seventh goal of the year at 80:28.  Just three minutes later, Nazareth's Elizabeth's Guidi scored the game-winner at 83:39 to give her team the win.

On the season, Trimblett leads Sage with her 17 points on seven goals with 3 assists. She continues her climb of Sage's scoring book as well as she is now No. 3 in career points with 88 points on 33 goals and 20 assists, while standing fourth in goals (33), and No. 2 in assists (20).

Sage's junior goalie Emma Augustine (Wawarsing, NY/Ellenville) made five saves in the contest, while Nazareth's Hannah Miller collected four saves to earn the win.

Next up for the Gators, they will host Houghton College on October 14 at Noon in an Empire 8 match-up at Noon in conjunction with Sage's Senior Day. The Gators will recognize the team's lone senior tri-captain Alyssa Lepper (Remsen, NY/Poland Central).
