Skyline 2016 All-Conference Release

NEW YORK – Sage sophomore Samantha Trimblett (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) was named the Skyline Conference Co-Player of the Year after a vote by the conference's 10 head coaches. Joining Trimbett as all-conference selections for the Gators are senior Taylor Lynch (Woodstock, NY/Saugerties), sophomore Nicole Bauer (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) and freshman Maegan Villa (Rock Tavern, NY/Washingtonville).

After being named last year's Skyline Rookie of the Year, Trimblett had a record setting season with 40 points on 16 goals and eight assists. She scored her first career hat trick earlier this year in a 3-2 win over Mount Saint Mary and again in a 12-0 win against SUNY-Old Westbury. Trimblett was named the Skyline Player of the Week four times this season along with one honor roll mention. The forward led the Skyline in shots/game (5.56) and tied for first with four game-winning goals. Trimblett currently ranks nationally in shots/game (6th), shots-on-goal/game (26th, 2.83), points/game (31st, 2.22) and total points (35th). The forward found her way into the Sage single-season record book ranking 1st in points and goals. Her eight assists on the season put her in a three-way for fifth with Lynch's and Cassidy Bruen's (Balwinsville, NY/Balwinsville) 2016 efforts. Only halfway through her career, Trimblett already ranks in Sage's career record books. The sophomore finds herself tied for 4th in points (71), 5th in assists (17) and 6th in goals (27).

In addition to her on field success, Trimblett was named to the 2016 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Women's Soccer Team. To be eligible for the honor, nominees have to have a 3.30 cumulative GPA or higher, participated in at lead 50 percent of the team's games and be at minimum an athletically eligible sophomore. Trimblett's All-District selection makes her eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot. The selections will be released later this month.

Lynch, Bauer and Villa were all named to the Skyline Conference Second-Team. Lynch totaled 28 points on 10 goals and eight assists in her final campaign with the Gators. A Skyline Second-Team selection last season, the forward ranked second on the team in goals, assists, points and game-winning goals (three). Lynch was named the week two Skyline Player of the Week after tallying two goals and an assists in a 5-0 win over Southern Vermont. The senior also made the week one honor roll after scoring the game-winning goal in 4-3 overtime win against ACP in the New Scotland Rivalry game. Lynch leaves Sage as one of the best offensive players in program history. The senior ends her career 1st in single-game goals (4 at Sarah Lawrence, 2014), 3rd in single-game points (eight at Sarah Lawrence, 2014), 4th in career points (71), 5th in career goals (29), 5th in single-season assists (eight, 2016), 8th in career assists (13), 8th in single-season points (28, 2016) and 9th in single-season goals (10, 2016).

Bauer, a Skyline First-Team selection last year, held down the Sage defense that averaged 1.35 goals-against, second in the Skyline to the champion Farmingdale State Rams. The Gators gave up a total of 27 goals, also second in the conference to Farmingdale. Bauer started in 19 of 19 games played after only missing one game all season due to injury.

Rounding out Sage's all-conference selections was Villa at midfield. The freshman totaled 10 points on three goals and four assists. Villa was tapped as the week seven Skyline Rookie of the Week when she tallied four points on two assists and one goal against SUNY-Old Westbury. She was one of three Gators tapped as a Skyline Rookie of the Week in the 2016 season. She was joined by Cassy Robataille (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) in week one and Giovanna Fichera (Cornwall, NY/Cornwall) in week two. Villa led Sage in shot-on-goal percentage (.714). The midfielder led Gator rookies in game-winners (two), assists, shots-on-goal (10) and points. Other than the Skyline Rookie of the Year, goalie Daniella Ford of Farmingdale, Villa was one of two freshmen named all-conference. The other all-conference rookie was St. Joseph's – Long Island's Christina Gagliardi.

Joining Trimblett as the Co-Skyline Player of the Year was Mount Saint Vincent's Julia McGowan. The forward had a conference-high 48 points and 21 goals. McGowan ranked 19th and 22nd in goals/game and points/game, respectively. Ford's Rookie of the Year honor comes after an undefeated season at Farmingdale. The goalie posted two clean sheets in the conference championship, and she tops the Skyline with a 0.97 goals-against-average. Mount Saint Mary's Bridget McKeever was tapped as the Skyline Defensive Player of the Year. The defender had 24 points on nine goals and six assists for the conference-finalist Knights. Mount Saint Vincent's Nathan Rauscher was named the conference Coach of the Year in his second year as a head coach. Rauscher led the Dolphins to a 2nd place regular season finish and the Skyline Championship semifinals. Mount Saint Vincent nearly doubled their wins with 13 after only seven in 2015.
