Sage Moves On to Skyline Semifinals

ALBANY – Samantha Trimblett (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) led Sage to a 4-0 win over St. Joseph's – Long Island Saturday night in the first round of the Skyline Championship.

After the Gators outshot St. Joseph's (5-13-1, 4-4-1 Skyline) 7-3 in the first half, Trimblett put Sage up 1-0 in the 55th minute off a beautiful cross from Taylor Lynch (Woodstock, NY/Saugerties). Sage's (12-7, 7-2 Skyline) Madison Spohr (Ramstein, Germany/Ramstein) scored the Gator's second goal off an assist from Savannah Mason (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park) in the 70th minute.

Sage kept the pressure up and scored its third goal in the 84th minute when Trimblett played a through ball to Lynch. Three minutes later, Ariannah Logan (Canajoharie, NY/Canajoharie) scored the Gator's fourth and final goal off a through ball from Trimblett.

Cassy Robataille (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) (12-7) was credited with the win for Sage on three saves while Juliana Cintron-Leonardo (4-4) picked up the loss with seven saves. Sage held a 23-3 shot advantage with Trimblett shooting a game-high seven shots.

Sage moves on to the Skyline semifinals at Farmingdale State (9-8-3, 9-0 Skyline) on Wed. Nov., 2 at 4 p.m. Last week, Farmingdale beat Sage 1-0 in overtime.
