Trimblett and Villa Sweep Women’s Soccer Skyline Weekly Awards

Week 7 Skyline Release

NEW YORK – Sage's Samantha Trimblett (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) and Maegan Villa (Rock Tavern, NY/Washingtonville) swept the week seven Skyline Women's Soccer Weekly Awards.

Trimblett was named the Skyline Player of the Week for the third week in a row after scoring her second hat-trick of the year in a 12-0 over SUNY-Old Westbury. The sophomore also added one assist for a total of 7 seven points, a career-high. With three games left in the regular season, Trimblett is nationally ranked in shots/game (5th, 6.0), points/game (13th, 2.62), shots-on-goal/game (16th, 3.08), total points (19th, 34), goals/game (21st, 1.08), total goals (24th, 14.0) and assists/game (24th, 0.56). Her impressive numbers put her at the top of four statistical categories in the Skyline.

After only two seasons with the Gators, Trimblett has already made a name for herself in Sage soccer history. Her 34 points on the season are tied for the most in a single-season. The forward also only needs one more goal to tie for the most goals in a single-season (15). Trimblett is also already in the career records in assists (tied for 5th, 15), points (tied for 6th, 65) and goals (8th, 25).

Villa was the third Sage player to be named the Skyline Rookie of the Week this season. The midfielder scored the game-winner nine minutes into their shutout against Old Westbury. Villa also added two first-half assists for a career-high four points. She currently leads Sage freshman in assists with three.

The Gators are having one of their best seasons in program history with an overall record of 9-6 and 5-1 in the Skyline. Sage is one of the best statistical teams in the country with national rankings in assists/game (6th, 3.2), total assists (6th, 48), total points (6th, 164), points/game (8th, 10.93), total goals (8th, 58), scoring offense (10th, 3.87), shots-on-goal/game (12th, 12.53) and shots/game (20th, 22.67).

Joining Trimblett in individual national rankings are Joleen Marfone (Remsen, NY/Remsen) and Cassidy Bruen (Baldwinsville, NY/Baldwinsville). Both women are nationally ranked total assists with Marfone in 13th (9) and Bruen in 27th (8).

Currently, Sage's statistical leaders include Trimblett (goals, points, shots, shots-on-goal), Marfone (assists), Villa (.818 shot-on-goal percentage), Taylor Lynch (Woodstock, NY/Saugerties) (three game-winning goals), Ariannah Logan (Canajoharie, NY/Canajorharie) (.273 shots percentage) and Cassy Robataille (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) (nine wins, 82 saves, 1.80 goals-against-average, .774 save percentage).

The Gators sit in third in the Skyline with 15 points. Topping the table are undefeated Farmingdale State with 21 points followed by Mount Saint Vincent with 18 points. Rounding out the top six are St. Joseph's – Long Island with 13 points, Mount Saint Mary with 12 points and Purchase with 10 points.

Sage's next contest is tomorrow night against Purchase at the ACP Athletic Complex. Seniors Bruen, Lynch, Savannah Mason (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park), Monica Koralus (Verbank, NY/Milbrook), Shelby Sarraino (Watervliet, NY/ Shaker), Shelby Ruppenthal (Albany, NY/Guilderland) and Rachel Ball (Waterford, NY/Catholic Central) will be honored at 6 p.m. with kickoff to follow at 7 p.m.
