Sage Falls to Hamilton in Non-Conference Action

CLINTON, NY – Hamilton's Kate Whiston's hat-trick was too much for Sage in a 4-0 loss in non-conference action Tuesday night.

In the 2nd minute, Sage's (8-6) Taylor Lynch (Woodstock, NY/Saugerties) stole a clearing pass and shot at the right post, but Hamilton (3-6-2) goalie Emily Dumont slapped the shot away. After eight straight shots by the Continentals, Whiston took a pass from Darby Philbrick at the top of the Gator box and scored on the inside right post in the 44th minute. 31 seconds later, Whiston put Hamilton up 2-0 before half when Jessie Murray crossed the ball to the far post.

At the start of the second half, Whiston scored her third goal for the hat-trick when she dribbled the ball to the end-line and into the box before taking a shot. Sage goalie Cassy Robataille (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) got hands on the ball, but it still went into the net.

Sage had a chance to reduce Hamilton's lead to two goals in the 54th minute when Savannah Mason's (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park) shot hit the post and rebounded to Lynch. Lynch took another shot, but the attempt went wide to the left.

Hamilton outshot the Gators 9-2 over the next 25 minutes until Philbrick took a shot that hit the inside of the post and went in for the Continentals' 4th goal of the game. Sage responded with a shot from Joleen Marfone (Remsen, NY/Remsen) in the 80th minute, but the attempt went wide to the left.

Dumont (2-3-1) was credited with the win on a one save effort while Robataille (8-6) picked up the loss on a nine save effort. Hamilton's Katie Kreider had a game-high seven shots with Sage led by Lynch with two.

Sage re-enters Skyline play Sat. Oct., 15 against SUNY-Old Westbury. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. at Lansingburgh High School.
