Sage Women's Soccer Offense Paces Gators Past Yeshiva

 

NEW YORK – Sage's high power offense was on display Sunday afternoon in a 11-0 win at Yeshiva with goals from eight different Gators.

Ariannah Logan (Canajoharie, NY/Canajoharie) put Sage (8-5, 4-1 Skyline) up 1-0 in the on a pass from Samantha Trimblett (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury). Less than two minutes later, Logan scored another goal from 15 yards out on a Kristen Silk (Greenville, NY/Greenville) assist.

In the 28th minute, Sarah Hume (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) scored her first collegiate career on a Joleen Marfone (Remsen, NY/Remsen) assist to put Sage up 3-0. Hume added an assist six minutes later on a Giovanna Fichera (Cornwall, NY/Cornwall Central) goal. Hume continued her impressive display with a second goal in the 39th minute on another Marfone assist.

Right before halftime, Nicole Hume (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) put the Gators up 6-0 off a rocket shot from 25 yards out from Rachel Ball (Waterford, NY/Catholic Central)

Less than five minutes into the second half, Trimblett tipped in a shot from Savannah Mason (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park) to put the Gators up 7-0. Trimblett scored again three minutes later on a pass from Shelby Sarraino (Watervliet, NY/Shaker). Mason added a goal off a pass from Maegan Villa (Rock Tavern, NY/Washingtonville) and Monica Koralus (Verbank, NY/Milkbrook) scored her first goal of the season on Marfone's third assist of the game to put Sage up 10-0

Marfone scored Sage's 11th and final goal in the 72nd minute for her fourth goal of the season off a Ball assist.

Sage's Cassy Robataille (8-5) was credited with the win while Yeshiva's (0-13, 0-9 Skyline) Gabriella Chutter picked up the loss on a nine save effort. Marfone had a game high nine shots followed by Sarah Hume with four.

With today's game, Lynch is now tied for 5th in career points at Sage with 65 (27 goals, 11 assists).

Topping the Skyline table is undefeated Farmingdale State with 18 points. Sage is tied for second with Mount Saint Vincent and Mount Saint Mary with 12 points apiece. Rounding out the top six are Purchase and St. Joseph's – Long Island.

Sage travels to Hamilton College on Tueday, Oct., 11 for their last non-conference match-up at 4 p.m.
