Sage Falls on Last Minute, Overtime Goal

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY – Bard's Dylan McDonald scored the Raptor's game-winning goal with 24 seconds left in the final overtime to lift Bard 2-1 over Sage Tuesday night.

After 25 minutes of back-and-forth action, the momentum switched to the Gators with four unanswered shots by Shelby Sarraino (Watervliet, NY/Shaker), Taylor Lynch (Woodbury, NY/Saugerties) and Savannah Mason (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park). Bard (7-4) answered with a goal in the 34th minute when Caroline Gluck played a long ball to Avalon Qian on the far post to go up 1-0. In the 39th minute, Joleen Marfone (Remsen, NY/Remsen) and Mason each took a shot in a 12 second period, but both attempts were blocked.

In the 67th minute, Sage's (6-5, 2-1 Skyline) Samantha Trimblett (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) scored the game-tying goal off a long pass from Cassidy Bruen (Baldwinsville, NY/Baldwinsville) to the far upper corner of the Raptor goal.

Bard had the momentum for the remainder of the second half with five unanswered shots, but the score remained tied at the end of regulation.

In the first overtime, Bard had one high shot while Sage's Jordyn Logan (Canajorharie, NY/Canajoharie) had a shot blocked. Sarraino added a corner in the last minute, but the score remained 1-1 to force a second overtime.

With less than a minute left in the final overtime, Avalon passed the ball to McDonald in the middle of the field off a throw-in. McDonald hit a shot with her left foot towards the Gator goal. Sage goalie Cassy Robataille (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) got a hand on the shot, but it wasn't enough as the ball found the back of the net.

Bard's Chloe Ramos (6-2) was credited with the loss while Robataille (6-5) picked up the loss on a four save effort. McDonald had a game-high five shots while Sage was led by Trimblett with four.

Trimblett currently has seven goals on the season, second in the Skyline with Old Westbury's Melissa Outsen. Less than halfway through her collegiate career, Trimblett currently ranks 10th in Sage history for career points with 48. Additionally, the forward ranks 13th in the country in shots/game with 5.75.

Sage returns to Skyline action play Friday night as they take on Maritime at 6 p.m. at the ACP Athletic Complex.
