ALBANY – Senior Taylor Lynch (Woodstock, NY/Saugerties) scored the game winning goal in overtime to give Sage a 4-3 win over Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACP) on Thursday night.

In the beginning of the first half, ACP's (0-1) Kayli Smith recorded a shot on goal in the first mintyes of the game, but Sage (1-0) keeper Cassy Robataille (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) saved the shot. Sage countered over the next 13 minutes with three shots from sophomore Samantha Trimblett (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) and one from freshman Maegan Villa (Rock Tavern, NY/Washingtonville).

In the 18^th minute, ACP's Katie Parsels capitalized on a Sage giveaway and played a through ball to Katie Benson. Benson finished her shot near post, and put the Panthers up 1-0.

Over the next twenty five minutes, Sage outshot ACP 8-1 with its best opportunities coming from senior forward Savannah Mason (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park)

ACP's Erin Tersegno looked as though she was going to make it 2-0 in the 44^th minute, but the Sage defense prevented her breakaway in the penalty box and kept the deficit 1-0.

With the clock winding down for halftime, Sage countered and Mason found the back of the net with five seconds on the clock to tie the game 1-1. Sophomore Joleen Marfone (Remsen, NY/Remsen) crossed the ball into Logan for the assist.

Sage opened the second half with a through ball played to senior Shelby Sarraino (Watervliet, NY/Shaker) in the box, but ACP keeper Amy Jagareski tipped it over the bar to keep the game tied.

Less than five minutes later, ACP's Benson put the Panthers up 2-1 after Parsels played a 50/50 ball in dangerous territory. Benson was able to outrun the defense and poke the ball into the net under the outstretched arm of the Gator keeper.

Down a goal and with 35 minutes left to play, Villa played a ball over the top of the ACP defensive line. Trimblett was able to stay on sides and time her run for a breakaway with the keeper, but the shot went just wide.

Less than two minutes later, Sarraino played a through ball to the corner to senior Cassidy Bruen (Baldwinsville, NY/Baldwinsville). Bruen put up a floating cross for Trimblett and the sophomore beat the keeper to tie up the game 2-2.

Sage kept on the offensive with Trimblett getting two more solid opportunities to score. With 28 minutes left in the half, sophomore Ariannah Logan (Canajoharie, NY/Canajoharie) put the Gators up 3-2 off a Lynch assist.

Sage controlled most of the offense over the next 17 minutes until Smith played a through ball to Benson in the 89^th minute. Benson capitalized on the 1v1 breakaway and tied the game 3-3.

Less than two minutes later, Tersegno was in the middle of the box with two defenders and about to score until Sage's Robataille came off her line, and kept the game tied 3-3.

With less than seven minutes left in regulation, sophomore Madison Spohr (Ramstein, Germany/Ramstein) had the ball in the right corner of the Panther penalty box. Spohr played the ball back to senior Monica Koralus (Verbank, NY/Milbrook) for a shot that was blocked. Mason gathered the rebound, and took a shot from five yards out, but it was blocked by the Panther defense.

Three minutes later, the Gators had another golden opportunity when Bruen gathered the ball in the right corner of the ACP end and the forward crossed the ball in the air. Mason battled two Panther defenders and the keeper to keep the ball in the air and playable for Trimblett. Trimblett shot the ball from three yards out with an open net, but the ball hit the bottom of the crossbar and bounced out to keep the game tied 3-3.

Less than two minutes into overtime, Mason played a ball down the left sideline to Ariannah Logan who then crossed in the box. Trimblett gathered it in front of the ball and passed the ball square to Lynch on the far post. Lynch buried the game winning goal from four yards out to give the Gators a 4-3 win.

Sage outshot ACP 32-8 with Trimblett recording ten and Mason with four.

Robataille (1-0) picked up her first collegiate win in goal on a one save effort with Sally Slowinski (0-1) recording six of ACP's 11 saves. ACP was led by Benson with three shots.

Head coach Garrett Cobb picked up his first collegiate win as a head coach.

Sage's next contest is tomorrow Sept. 2 as they face SUNY-New Paltz on the road. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
