Albany, NY –The Sage women's soccer team hosted the Dolphins of the College of Mt. St. Vincent on Saturday afternoon in a Skyline Conference match-up. Sage triumphed 3-0 and improves to 8-3 overall and a perfect 4-0 in the league. CMSV falls to 2-8 overall and 1-3 in the conference.
Sage led 1-0 as junior forward Cassidy Bruen (Baldwinsville, NY/Baldwinsvile) converted the fee from junior Taylor Lynch (Woodstock, NY/Saugerties) at the 16:47 mark. The goal was the second of the season for Bruen and helped the Gators take a 1-0 lead into the half.
In the second half, Sage collected two goals as rookie forward Samantha Trimblett (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) scored her team-leading seventh goal of the year on a feed from Lynch at 64:04.
Rookie defender Madison Spohr (Ramstein, Germany) gave the Gators a 3-0 lead as she tallied her first goal of the year on a pass from Bruen at 80:20.
Sage's senior keeper, tri-captain Nicole Maher (Glen Clove, NY/Saint Dominic) earned the win, turning away three shots faced and is now 7-1 in goal. The Gators have now tallied four shutouts this fall as they have also outscored their opponents 34-10. CMSV's sophomore goalie Elizabeth Martin (Lawrenceville, NJ/Lawrence) made four saves in falling to 2-8 on the year.
Sage is back in action on October 7 with a road match-up at Mt. St. Mary College at 5:30 p.m., while CMSV is host Kean University at 4:30 p.m. on October 7.
