Logan's goal in OT propels Sage past SJC and helps Gators remain perfect in league

Albany, NY –The Sage women's soccer team hosted the Golden Eagles of St. Joseph's College (LI) on Sunday afternoon in a Skyline Conference match-up. Sage needed overtime, but triumphed 3-2 as rookie midfielder Ariannah Logan (Canajoharie, NY/Canojoharie) collected the game-winner to break a 2-2 tie and help the Gators remain unbeaten in conference play.  With the win, Sage is now 7-3 overall and 3-0 in the Skyline Conference, while SJC drops to 3-5-1 overall and 2-2 in the league.

SJC struck first as senior forward Chelsea Bellini (Hauppauge, NY/Smithtown Christian) scored just 5:28 into the action as she had a break away and beat Sage's keeper, senior tri-captain Nicole Maher (Glen Clove, NY/Saint Dominic). The goal was her fifth of the season and helped the Golden Eagles to a 1-0 lead.

Sage's junior midfielder Taylor Lynch (Woodstock, NY/Saugerties) tied the action with her third goal of the season at 16:37.

Rookie forward Samantha Trimblett (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) provided Sage with their first lead as she tallied her team-leading sixth goal of the year at the 51:34 mark.

SJC's sophomore Kristin Carroll (Patchogue, NY/Patchogue-Medford) scored on a feed from senior midfielder Megan Luen (Hauppauge, NY/Happauge) at 67:06. The two teams each had a series of near misses in the last 10 minutes, but deadlocked at two goals apiece, the contest went to overtime.

Logan ended the game with her goal about 20 yards out on the right side as she buried the goal on the left side just out of the reach of senior goalie, Katie McGarrell (Selden, NY/Newfield).

McGarrell finished with 13 saves in the action, while Maher made 11 on the day.

Sage is back in action on September 29 for a 7 p.m. road non-conference match at Bard College.
