Bears halt Gators' win streak as they triumph, 2-1

Lansingburgh, NY –The Sage women's soccer team hosted the Bears of Potsdam State on Monday night in a non-conference match-up. The Bears collected a 2-1 road win to extend the team's win streak to seven games as sophomore midfielder Brooke Falsion (Brockport, NY/Brockport) collected the game-winning goal. Potsdam improves to 7-1 on the season, while Sage falls to 5-3.

After the two teams played to a scoreless first half before junior Sami Hubinsky (South Glens Falls, NY/South Glens Falls) connected for the first score of the evening at 45:26 for her first goal of the season. Rookie Samantha Trimblett (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) tied the action with her third goal of the season on a feed from junior Savannah Mason (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park) at 55:00.

Both teams pressured one another on several runs, but the 1-1 tie lasted until the 77:10 mark when Falsion had pass from senior Erin McClusky (Watertown, NY/Immaculate Heart) in what turned out to the game-winner.

Sage senior tri-captain Nicole Maher (Glen Clove, NY/Saint Dominic) ad 10 saves in the contest for a personal-best but suffered the loss dropping to 3-1 in net.  Potsdam's senior goalie Bri Thibeau (Salem, NY/Salem) picked up the win as she made six saves with one goal allowed and is now 3-1 on the year.

Sage is back in action on Friday, September 25 travelling to Maritime College for a 7:30 p.m. Skyline Conference match-up.
