Gators open Skyline play with convincing 9-1 win at St. Joe's-Brooklyn

Brooklyn, NY –The Sage women's soccer team opened Skyline Conference play on Saturday visiting the league's newest member, St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn. Playing at Aviation Field, the Gators opened league play with a convincing 9-1 win, putting the squad at 3-2 overall and 1-0 in the league. The contest was the season opener for SJB as they fall to 0-1 overall and also in the league. Sage's offense was kept busy as they racked up 27 shots in the contest with 17 shots on goal.

Nine different players found the net for the Gators as junior Savanah Mason (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park) put the team on the scoreboard just 1;26 into the action on a feed from rookie defender Nicole Bauer (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury). Mason leads the team with her three goals this fall, and checks in with 18 career goals, which No. 10 all-time for the Gators.

Rookie Ariannah Logan (Canajoharie, NY/Canajoharie) finished the day with a pair of assists. Her twin sister, rookie Jordyn Logan (Canajoharie, NY/Canajoharie) also scored on Saturday. Junior defender Jamie Hovendon (Oakhurst, NJ/Ocean Township) collected what would be the game-winning goal with her first score of the year at Sage (16:26).

Sage's senior tri-captain Nicole Maher (Glen Clove, NY/Saint Dominic) made the start in goal and made two saves in 32:46 in net with one goal allowed. She shared in the win with newcomer Emaleigh Maloney (Troy, NY/Lansingburgh) made two saves in 57:14 with no goals allowed.

Sage hosts the Hawks of SUNY-New Paltz on Sunday at 1 p.m. in the team's home opener at Lansingburgh H.S.
