Sage Women's Soccer Squad Topples Cobleskill, 5-0

Cobleskill, NY –The Sage women's soccer team was in action on Wednesday afternoon facing SUNY-Cobleskill. The Gators would cruise to a 5-0 win to improve to 2-2 on the season, while Cobleskill drops to 0-2.

Sage led 4-0 at the half and the game was suspended for a weather delay but was completed as the Gators tacked on a goal in the second half to earn the key road win. Rookie Makenzie Flaherty (Brunswick, NY/Tamarac) collected the first goal of the game and her career in what turned out to be the game-winning goal as well. She put Sage on the scoreboard just 8:59 into the game.

Sage's senior tri-captain Nicole Maher (Glen Clove, NY/Saint Dominic) made her first career start in goal and worked 31:27 in net with one save. She returned to the field and handed out an assist on the final goal of the contest at 53:54 as she fed the ball to junior forward Taylor Lynch (Woodstock, NY/Saugerties). Maher is climbing Sage's career goal scoring list as she now has 29 career goals and stands No. 4 in the career goal list, while ranking No. 3 in career points with 73 points on 29 goals and 15 assists.

The Gators got additional scores in the action from three different players as junior Savanah Mason (Wyanantskill, NY/Averill Park), rookie Jordyn Logan (Canajoharie, NY/Canajoharie), and junior Monica Koralus (Verbank, NY/Milbrook) all scored their in the contest. The goal was the second of the year for Mason, who now has 17 career goals.

Sharing in the shutout win with Maher was rookie keeper Emaleigh Maloney (Troy, NY/Lansingburgh) as she had two saves in 58 minutes of work.

Sage travels to St. Joseph's-Brooklyn for the team's Skyline Conference opener on Saturday, September 12 at 1 p.m.
