Albany, NY –The Sage College’s department of athletics gathered to recognize and honor the outstanding performances of the 2014-2015 year with the naming of the athletic award winners for the 15 varsity athletic teams. In addition to awarding the Gator Award, for the Most Outstanding Player, the department also named the 2014-2015 Female and Male Athletes of the Year as well as the Dean Sharon Robinson Senior Male and Female Scholar-Athletes of the Year, which is given to the senior student-athlete with the highest overall grade point average.

The Sage Colleges' women's soccer team selected senior goalkeeper Teagan Waddingham (Coeymans Hollow, NY/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) as the 2014 Gator of the Year. On her career, she tallied 328 career saves, which and finished No. 3 in all-time saves at Sage. She played in 50 games and finished her time in the goal at the No. 2 spot with 4,478 minutes played, also No. 2 in games played in goal. Named to the 2014 Skyline Conference Second Team, she went 11-6-2 this season with a personal-best 2.25 GAA and a .734 saves percentage in net. Overall on her career, she also earned a 2.53 GAA with a .722 career saves percentage in three years as a starter.

Head coach Andrew Gamarra said of Waddingham, "With great verve and enthusiasm, Teagan threw herself into all of her endeavors.” Gamarra added, “At every turn, she asked what would benefit her team and then proceeded according to the greater good. Through charismatic leadership, Teagan ignited our team's potential to achieve great things.  Her tireless work ethic and unrelenting devotion were an incredible example for her peers.  Teagan inspires action and invites others into the ranks of determination and success in athletics."

Sage’s women's soccer team fell in the semifinals of the 2014 Eastern College Athletic Conference Metro/Upstate Division III Tournament. For the Gators, the 2014 campaign represents the best finish in the program’s history as the team posted a record of 12-6-2 after setting the record for most wins in a season (12) and most Skyline Conference wins (6), all under the leadership of rookie head coach, Gamarra.

Waddingham served the past year as the president of Sage’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee and spoke at the banquet reflecting on the student-athlete experience as Sage. Waddingham will graduate this May with a degree in physical education and will join the Gator women’s soccer coach staff as an assistant this coming season.
