LAUREN MACKAY JOINS SAGE'S WOMEN'S SOCCER COACHING STAFF

Troy, NY – The Sage Colleges' department of athletics has announced the selection of Lauren Mackay (Schaghticoke, NY) as an assistant coach for the women's soccer program. She joins head coach Andrew Gamarra and in addition to her duties with the Gators, she is also a member of the Admission's Office at Sage.

"We are so excited to have Coach Mackay join our coaching staff," noted head coach Andrew Gamarra. He added, "Having played semi-professionally and at the collegiate level, Coach Mackay has a keen eye for the game and is very prepared to train our players to rise to the next level.  Coach Mackay will be a vital resource for seeking prospective students, as she is seasoned in the recruiting process through her experience at Potsdam."

A 2007 graduate of Southern New Hampshire University, Mackay was a President's List student and graduated with a bachelor of science degree in club management. A four-year letterwinner at SNHU, she served as a team co-captain as a senior on the 2006 team. A former player on the Adirondack Lynx in 2007 and 2008, she also played as a member of the W-League Hudson Valley Quickstrike Lady Blues for two years before playing on the WPSL Alleycats in 2011.

An Assistant Coach at Potsdam State for two seasons, Mackay served for two seasons as the varsity head coach at nearby Stillwater High School (2011 and 2012) after serving for years with the junior varsity program.

Mackay has also worked as the pro-shop manager at Saratoga Lake Golf Club in 2006-2007, before being elevated to general manager, a position she held until 2013. Certified as a Teaching Assistant by the NYS Education Department Assessment, she has also worked as a substitute teacher and a teaching assistant in both the St. Lawrence/Lewis and Potsdam School Districts.

Mackay joins the Gator women's soccer staff led by Andrew Gamarra, the 2014 Skyline Conference Women's Soccer Coach of the Year. The 2014 Gators are coming off the best showing in the program's history after going 12-6-2 and advancing to the semifinals of both the Skyline Conference championship and the Eastern College Athletic Conference Metro Division III Tournaments.
