Newark, NJ – The Sage Colleges' women's soccer team fell in the semifinals of the 2014 Eastern College Athletic Conference Metro/Upstate Division III Semifinals on Saturday to No. 2 seeded Rutgers University-Newark, 7-0. The host Scarlet Raiders (14-7-2) advance to Sunday's championship match and will meet Stevens Institute of Technology in the 7 p.m. contest. 

For the Gators, the 2014 campaign represents the best finish in the program's history as the team posted a record of 12-6-2 after setting the record for most wins in a season (12) and most Skyline Conference wins (6), all under the leadership of rookie head coach, Andrew Gamarra.

The Gators trailed 3-0 at the half after and were unable to get back into the action as the Scarlet Raiders were led by Paige Lazar and Sara Corson. Lazar finished the action with a hat trick, while Corson tallied two goals and leads her team with 23 goals this fall.

Sage's senior goalkeeper Teagan Waddingham (Coeymans Hollow, NY/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) had 10 saves in the contest and wraps her stellar career as a Gator. On her career, she tallied 328 career saves, which saw her move into the No. 3 position. She moved ahead of Schuyler Kokernak (2004-2006, 320 saves) in the match Saturday. She also played in 50 games and finished her time in the goal at the No. 2 spot with 4,478 minutes played, also No. 2. Named to the 2014 Skyline Conference Second Team, she went 11-6-2 this season with a personal-best 2.25 GAA and a .734 saves percentage in net. Overall on her career, she also earned a 2.53 GAA with a .722 career saves percentage in three years as a starter.

The contest also marked the career finale for midfielder Melissa Spring (Penfield, NY/Penfield). Spring played in 64 games over the course of her career and added 12 points on four goals and four assists. She ranks No. 9 as a Gator in career games played and made 52 starts in her four-year career.
