Gators fall to Knights in Skyline action, 2-0

Albany, NY – Sage's women's soccer team hosted the Knights of Mt. St. Mary College on Thursday night in a Skyline Conference contest. MSMC improves to 10-4 overall and 4-0 in the Skyline Conference, while Sage falls to 6-4-2 overall and 3-2 in the conference.

MSMC led 1-0 at the half as senior Jordyn Catapano (Hopewell Junction, NY/John Jay East Fishkill) converted a pass on the corner kick from rookie Destiny Ribadeneyra (Maybrook, NY/Valley Central) for her third goal of the season at 39:31. Catapano got the feed from the left side and pushed it in to the right corner past Sage's keeper, senior Teagan Waddingham (Coeymans Hollow, NY/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk).

Senior Marissa Segreto (West Islip, NY/West Islip) tallied her eighth goal of the season on a break-away on the right side at 56:20 and put the Knights up 2-0 in the early goings of the second stanza.  The Gators had their chances but were unable to capitalize on its opportunities.

For the game, Waddingham finished with 12 saves on 14 shots faced, while MSMC's rookie Mary Riley (Newburgh, NY/Our Lady of the Lourdes) finished with one save and earned her fifth shutout on the season. Waddingham has elevated her career resume to include 282 career saves, which stands No. 4 on the Gator career list for saves.

Sage returns to action on Saturday, October 18 facing the College of Mt. St. Vincent in a Skyline Conference contest at 12:30 p.m. Mt. St. Mary College will visit Farmingdale State on Saturday in a 1 p.m. Skyline match-up.
