Sage Names Teagan Waddingham Women's Soccer Gator of the Year

Albany, NY – The Sage College’s department of athletics gathered to recognize and honor the outstanding performances of the 2013-2014 year with the naming of the athletic award winners for the 15 varsity athletic teams. In addition to awarding the Gator Award, for the Most Outstanding Player, the department also named the 2013-2014 Female and Male Athletes of the Year as well as the ECAC Merit Medal and the Dean Sharon Robinson Senior Male and Female Scholar-Athletes of the Year.

Junior goalie Teagan Waddingham (Coeymans Hollow, NY/Ravena Coeymans Selkirk) earned the Gator Award for her efforts as a member of the women’s soccer team.

Head women’s soccer coach Greg Cathell said of Waddingham, “Teagan exemplifies the definition of a leader.” He noted, “She leads by example, while also being selfless and always putting the team first. Sage is very luck to have someone, who is held in such a high regard by both her teammates and teachers alike. We look forward to making her senior year one for the Sage record books!”

As a member of the women’s soccer team, the junior goalkeeper finished the 2013 the season with a 2.42 GAA on the year and played all 1,375 minutes in goal with 110 saves. She netted a .748 saves percentage on the year and has now started 31 games in goal for Sage over the last two seasons with 215 saves and a 2.7 career GAA.

Also a member of the softball team at Sage, Waddingham helped the Gators to post-season tournament appearances in the Skyline Conference and the ECAC Division III Metro Tournament. The 2014 Skyline Conference regular-season champions, Sage took home the Skyline Conference runner-up trophy and finished the season with a 23-14 record. Waddingham played in 25 games with eight starts and batted .333 and was perfect in both stolen bases (3-3), while also boasting a 1.000 fielding percentage in the outfield.
