Sarraino delivers another game-winner to lift Gators in OT

Albany, NY – The Sage Colleges' women's soccer team hosted the Fighting Tigers of SUNY-Cobleskill on Wednesday evening at the Plumeri Sports Complex. Sage tallied a 3-2 overtime win to capture the squad's third win in their last four matches and puts the Gators at 4-9. The setback puts SUNY-Cobleskill at 2-11-1.

After playing to a scoreless first half the two teams were knotted at 2-2 at the end regulation after exchanging scores. Sage's freshman forward Shelby Sarraino (Watervliet, NY/Shaker) scored first on a feed from sophomore Alexander Robert (Melrose, NY/Hoosic Valley) at 62:16. Moments later, Cobleskill was on the board on a goal by freshman Michelle Boyle (Whitney Point, NY/Whitney Point) at 66:11.

The Fighting Tigers then led 2-1 after freshman Megan Golden (Oxford, NY/Oxford Academy) erupted for a score at  72:08. Sage's sophomore Nicole Maher (Glen Cove, NY/Saint Dominic) then tied the action at the 77:07 mark to send the game to overtime.

In the overtime period, Sarraino would end the game with her second goal of the night as she scored at the 94:17 mark, giving her the game—winning goal and her fourth tally of the season.

Sage's junior goalkeeper Teagan Waddingham (Coeymans Hollow, NY/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) connected for two saves in the action, while SUNY Cobleskill's junior Hayley MacLean (McGraw, NY/McGraw) picked up 14 saves in the contest.

Sage returns to action on Saturday, October 26 hosting the College of Mt. St. Vincent at 1 p.m. at nearby Colonie High School. Prior to the contest Sage will recognize their 2013 seniors, Emily Stevenson, Danielle Kitsock, and Sarah Woodruff in conjunction with Senior Day. SUNY-Cobleskill is in action on Saturday as well, hosting Keuka College at 3 p.m.
