Gators best Maritime in Skyline Women's Soccer Action

Throggs Neck, NY – The Sage Colleges' women's soccer team travelled to Maritime College on Friday night for a Skyline Conference match. Sage posted a 2-1 road win over the Privateers to snap a six-game losing streak and collect the first Skyline Conference win for Head Coach Ashley Moore. Sage improves to 2-8 overall and 1-4 in the Skyline, while Maritime drops to 9-6 overall and 2-3 in the league. The Gators are now 7-0 lifetime against Maritime to maintain the edge in the series history.

Senior midfielder Emily Stevenson (Ithaca, NY/Newfield) collected the first goal of the evening on a feed from junior Shelby Ruppenthal (Albany, NY/Guilderland) at the 20:05 mark of the contest. Maritime tied the action as Marisa Athan scored right before the half at 41:07.

Sophomore midfielder Kelsey Woron (Baltimore, MD/Chesapeake) scored the game-winning goal, her first of the season at the 68:16 mark and lifted Sage to the win.

Stevenson leads the team with her four goals and eight points, both of which are career bests for the Gator senior.

Sage's junior goalkeeper Teagan Waddingham (Coeymans Hollow, NY/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) connected for eight saves in the action, while Maritime's Kristen Hoar had 11 saves in the night.

Sage returns to action on Monday, October 14 travelling to Purchase College for a 7 p.m. Skyline Conference game.
