Moore named interim head women's soccer coach at Sage

Troy, NY – The Sage Colleges' department of athletics has announced the selection of Ashley Moore (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) as the interim head women's soccer coach, replacing Coach Caitlin Colfer, who has departed for the University at Albany as the new head coach for the Great Danes. Moore will direct the Gators this upcoming season. Sage will conduct a national search after the completion of the 2013 season for a full-time head women's soccer coach.

Moore, a 2010 graduate of the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill joined Sage's women's soccer coaching staff last summer as an assistant coach. She has an extensive resume of accomplishments that includes four consecutive Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament Championship crowns (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009) as well as three NCAA Division I Championship titles (2006, 2008, and 2009).

The 2012 Gators garnered a spot in the Skyline Conference Tournament for the team's sixth consecutive appearance in the Skyline Conference Tournament, while also producing the 2012 Skyline Rookie of the Year as well as a pair of Skyline Conference All-Star Second Team honorees. Sage placed five student-athletes on the 2012 Skyline Conference Scholar-Athlete Team for their outstanding efforts in the classroom.

Director of Athletics, Dani Drews said of Moore, "I am excited that Ashley is able to assist our women's soccer program in the coming year." Drews added, "Her knowledge of the game is incredible, while her playing experience proves that she has the passion and dedication to compete at the highest levels. She is just what we need to continue with the development of our women's soccer program entering the 2013 season."

A former honor roll student at Shenendehowa High School, Moore was a Parade Magazine High School All-American as well as playing professionally with the Adirnondack Lynx of the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) in 2006 and 2007. Moore was also a captain of the Adirondack Women's Open Soccer Team in the Empire State Games in 2008.  Since earning her bachelor of arts in exercise and sports science, Moore has served as the head coach for the Albany Alleycats U11 Team since 2004, while also participating in numerous volunteer activities as a student-athlete at UNC.

The Gators open the 2013 season on August 30 at Elms College in a 3 p.m. non-conference contest. Sage will face the University of Minnesota-Morris the next day in a contest to be played on the campus of MCLA (Adams, MA) in a 4 p.m. contest. The team's home opener is scheduled for Wednesday, September 11 when the Gators host Southern Vermont College in a 7 p.m. in a non-conference match at nearby Colonie High School.
