Trailblazers Top Gators in regular-season finale

North Adams, MA---The Sage Colleges' women's soccer team travelled to MCLA for a non-conference match on Monday afternoon. The MCLA Trailblazers snapped a three game slide with a 3-0 victory over the visiting Sage College Gators this afternoon at Shewcraft Field.  With the win, MCLA improves to 6-9 overall while the Gators fall to 5-9-1. 

Three different Trailblazers found the back of the net in the victory.  In the opening half, MCLA's Jennifer Ferrari tallied her team leading 8th goal of the season as she converted a Rebecca Pike feed for a 1-0 lead in the 12th minute.  Teammate Lindsay Borbolla would connect on her fifth goal of the season in the 28th minute to give MCLA a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.

Lindsay Roy notched her first goal of the season in the 84th minute to round out the scoring.  Katlyn Brown collected the assist.

Trailblazer keeper Danielle Heinsohn earned her sixth win of the season stopping five shots.  Gator counterpart, sophomore Teagan Waddingham (Coeymans Hollow, NY/Ravena Coeymans Selkirk) stopped three shots in absorbing the loss. 

MCLA outshot Sage 9-8 on the afternoon. 

Sage returns to action on Saturday, October 27 when they travel to SUNY-Old Westbury for the first round of the 2012 Skyline Conference Tournament. Seeded 5th, Sage will face the No. 4 seeded Panthers of SUNY-Old Westbury in a 1 p.m. contest at Old Westbury. The appearance for the Gators in the sixth consecutive Skyline tournament appearance, but the first for Sage's rookie head coach, Caitlin Colfer.
