OW Tops Sage in women's soccer action, 1-0

Old Westbury, NY---The Sage College women's soccer team travelled to SUNY-Old Westbury on Saturday for a Skyline Conference match. The host Panthers tallied the 1-0 win to improve to 7-5 overall and 5-1 in the Skyline Conference, while Sage falls to 5-7 overall and 3-4 in the conference.

The Panthers scored the only goal of the match in the opening minutes of the second half as Stephanie Maybie found the net at 49:14 to break a scoreless tie and propel her squad to the win.

Sage's junior goalie Grace Collett (Watervliet, NY/Watervliet) and sophomore Chelsea Martin (Davenport, NY/Jefferson Central) filled in for the Gators in goal as the regular-starter, was ill. The pair shared time in goal and Collett made six saves in the first half, while Martin made five saves in her collegiate debut in goal.

OW's Caitlin Thomas made one save in earning the shutout win for the Panthers.

Sage will close out the 2011 regular-season on October 20 when they face Skyline Conference foe, Purchase College in a 7 p.m. road contest.
