Sage falls in Skyline Conference action to FSC Rams

Glenmont, NY---The Sage College women's soccer team hosted the Rams of Farmingdale State College on Friday afternoon in a Skyline Conference match. The Rams cruised to a 7-0 win and improve to 10-2-2 overall and 4-0 in the conference. Sage drops to 5-5 overall with a 3-3 conference record.

FSC led 5-0 at the half and held a convincing shot advantage in the match as the Rams held a 33-0 shot margin.

Junior forward Jamie Smith (Ronkonkoma, NY/Sachem East) provided the game-winner as she put the Rams on the scoreboard at 14:14 for her sixth goals of the fall on a feed from junior Christina Merrill (Levitttown, NY/Island Trees). Smith added another goal in the contest and finished with four points on the day to lead the Rams.

Senior Amanda Maas (Mastic Beach, NY/William Floyd) and junior Stacey Rao (Ronkonkoma, NY/Connetquot) shared the shutout win for the Rams. Sage's senior Brittany McDonald (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) took the loss with 13 saves in the contest.

The Gators return to action on October 12 hosting MCLA at 3:30 p.m.  at the Bethlehem SoccerPlex. Prior to the start of the contest, Sage will recognize their 2011 seniors, McDonald and Rebecca Marszalek (Adams, MA/Hoosac Valley).
