Marszalek breaks scoring mark as Gators romp, 4-0

Glenmont, NY---The Sage's women's soccer team hosted the Fighting Blue Jays of NYU-Poly on Saturday at the Bethlehem Soccer Plex. The Gators earned a 4-0 win in Skyline Conference play to improve to 5-3 overall and 3-1 in the Skyline Conference, while NYU-Poly drops to 2-4 overall and 0-3 in the conference.

Sage's senior forward Rebecca Marszalek (Adams, MA/Hoosac Valley) scored the final goal of the contest with just 42 seconds remaining in the contest to cap a 4-0 decision. The goal helped her become the program's all-time leading goal scorer as she moved ahead of Kelley Richer (48 goals, 15 assists, 111 points, 1991-1994).

Marszalek, who leads the Gators in scoring this fall with six goals, now has 49 career goals and 109 career points as she takes aim now at the career total point mark also held by Richer (111 points, 48 goals, 15 assists).

Rookie midfielder Emily Stevenson (Ithaca, NY/Newfield) put the Gators on the scoreboard with her first career goal, a goal that turned out to be the game-winner just 7:01 into the contest.

Sophomore forward Chelsea Martin (Davenport NY/Jefferson Central) and rookie Lindsay Millett (Ravena, NY/Ravena Selkirk-Coeymans) each found the net as well as Sage outshot NYU-Poly, 37-7.

Sage's junior goalie Grace Collett (Watervliet, NY/Watervliet) earned the win for her first career shutout as she is 1-1 in net after she had four saves. NYU-Poly's freshman goalie Christa Pappalardo (Port Jefferson, NY/Earl L. CVandermeulen) made 20 saves in the contest.
