Collett tallies game-winner to lift Sage past Potsdam, 2-1

Troy, NY---The Sage's women's soccer team hosted the Bears of SUNY-Potsdam at Renwyck Field on Tuesday night.  Sage's junior forward Grace Collett (Watervliet, NY/Watervliet) provided the game-winner in the waning three minutes of regulation to break a 1-1 tie and give the Gators a 2-1 win. Sage improves to 4-1 on the year, while SUNY-Potsdam drops 3-1-2.

The Bears took a 1-0 lead at the half as they were the benefactors of a Sage own goal at  25:17. Junior forward Rebecca Doble (Troy, NY/Lansingburgh) connected on her first goal of the season with her tally at 70:50 giving the Gators new life.  Collett provided the game-winner at 87:24 for her first score of the season and the first game-winner of her career. Assisting on the game-winner was senior forward Rebecca Marszalek (Adams, MA/Hoosac Valley).  Marszalek now has 48 career goals and 11 career assists for 107 career total points, which is second all-time at Sage behind Kelley Richer (48 goals, 15 assists, 111 points, 1991-1994).

Sage's senior goalie Brittany McDonald (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) recorded the win to improve to 4-0 on the fall as she had six saves. McDonald now has 266 career saves with 21 career victories in goal and is third all-time with her career saves and minutes played in net.

Potsdam's senior goalie Dedra Palmer (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) had five saves in the match.

Sage returns to action on Saturday, September 24 hosting the College of St. Joseph's in a Skyline Conference match at the Bethlehem SoccerPlex (Glenmont, NY) at 1 p.m. SUNY-Potsdam hosts SUNY-Plattsburgh that same afternoon in a 1 p.m. SUNYAC match-up.
