Sage tallies 3-1 win over Maritime as Millett and Marszalek star

Glenmont, NY---The Sage's women's soccer team hosted the Privateers of Maritime College on Sunday afternoon in a Skyline Conference match.  Sage earned a 3-1 win to improve to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the league, while Maritime falls to 1-5 on the fall and 0-1 in the conference.

Sage's senior forward Rebecca Marszalek (Adams, MA/Hoosac Valley) scored the first goal of the contest giving Sage a 1-0 lead as the two teams were knotted at 0-0 at the break.  The goal marked the 48th career goal for Marsalek tying Sage's all-time career goal scoring mark with her 48th goal. She is now tied with Kelley Richer (48 goals, 1991-1994). Richer also holds Sage's career point mark as well with 111 points (48 goals, 15 assists) and with her effort on Sunday, Marszalek is closing in that record as she has 106 points (48 goals and 10 assists).

Sage's freshman midfielder Lindsay Millett (Ravena, NY/Ravena Selkirk-Coeymans) netted a pair of goals to lead the Gators in the contest and now has three goals on the season.

Maritime's junior midfielder Jorrie Trenkamp (Tabernacle, NJ/Seneca) broke up Sage's shutout bid with her eight goal of the fall and continues to lead the Privateers with her 18 points this season.

Sage's senior goalie Brittany McDonald (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) recorded the win to improve to 3-0 on the fall as she had six saves. McDonald now has 260 career saves with 20 career victories in goal and is third all-time with her career saves and minutes played in net.

Maritime's junior goalie Courtney Marietta (Grantville, PA/Lower Dauphin) had 14 saves in the match.

Sage returns to action on Tuesday, September 20 hosting SUNY-Potsdam at 7:30 p.m. at RPI's Renwyck Field. Maritime hosts the College of St. Elizabeth on September 20 at 7 p.m.
