Glenmont, NY---The Sage's women's soccer team opened the 2011 Skyline Conference season on Saturday hosting the Dolphins of the College of Mount Saint Vincent at the Bethlehem SoccerPlex. Sage's senior forward Rebecca Marszalek (Adams, MA/Hoosac Valley) scored a pair of goals to lift Sage to the 3-0 win on the afternoon. The Gators stand at 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the conference on the young season, while CMSV falls to 1-4 overall and 0-1 in the league.

Marszalek scored the first of her two scores at the 12:52 mark of the match to give the Gators a 1-0 halftime lead. Sophomore forward Chelsea Martin (Davenport, NY/Jefferson Central) scored her first career goal on a pass from Marszalek at the 63:49 mark. Minutes later the pair connected again as Marszalek converted the feed from Martin at 66:52 for the third goal of the match.

Marszalek now has 47 career goals with 104 career total points and is just two goals shy of becoming the program's all-time goal scoring leader. The mark is currently held by Kelley Richer (48 goals, 1991-1994) and she also holds the points mark as well with 111 on 48 goals and 15 assists. On the 2011 season, she has a team-best four goals and an assist for nine points.

Sage's senior goalie Brittany McDonald (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) recorded the shutout with her two saves and now has 12 career shutouts, which is second on the Sage career list behind the 19 recorded by Schuyler Kokernak (2004-2007).

CMSV's senior goalie Kara McNish (Hawthorne, NJ/Hawthorne) suffered the loss after recording 12 saves in the match.

Sage returns to action on Sunday, September 18 hosting Maritime College at 1 p.m. in a Skyline match at the Bethlehem SoccerPlex.
