Sage posts impressive win over Maritime in women's soccer, 8-0

Throggs Neck, NY---The Sage's women's soccer team tallied an impressive 8-0 win over Maritime College on Saturday afternoon. The Gators improve to 7-6 overall and 5-4 in the Skyline Conference, while Maritime drops to 3-15 overall and 2-7 in the conference.

Sage would benefit from three different players connecting for two goals each on the afternoon. Junior Rebecca Marszalek (Adams, MA/Hoosac Valley) tallied a pair of goals and continues to lead the team this season as she has 28 points on 12 goals and four assists. She is moving ever closer to Sage's career goal scoring mark as she has 41 now, just seven off the record held by Kelley Richer (48, 1991-1994). She also is closing in on the career total point mark as she has 91 points, 20 shy of Richer's record of 111.

Senior Nicole Killeen (Petersburgh, NY/Berlin Central) added two goals to elevate her season total to eight goals and two assists for 18 points, which is second amongst all Sage players this season, and a personal best for the forward. She has elevated her career goals to 21 with six assists for 48 points.  Senior defender Samantha DeFoe (Galway, NY/Galway) collected a pair of goals as well and has scored in each of the team's last games giving her three goals this fall and six points.

Sage's senior goalkeeper Brittany McDonald (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) earned her third shutout this fall after turning away all the shots she faced on the day.

Sage returns to action on Sunday, hosting SUNY-Old Westbury at 1 p.m. on the campus of Albany Academy for Girls. Sage will honor their six seniors in a ceremony at halftime in conjunction with senior day.
