
Albany, NY---The Sage Colleges women's soccer team hosted the Knights of Mt. St. Mary College on Thursday afternoon in a Skyline Conference game held at Albany Academy for Girls. The two teams played to a scoreless finish in regulation and in the second period of overtime, junior Eric McKeon (Watertown, CT/Holy Cross) broke the 0-0 tie and connected on the game-winning goal. MSMC improves to 4-5 overall and 1-1 in the league, while Sage drops to 2-4 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
Mid-way through the second overtime period, the Knights earned a corner kick and freshman defender Tara McDermott (Tewksbury, NJ/Voorhees) served the ball into the box from the left side and McKeon headed the ball in for the win at the 104:37 mark of the match. The goal was the sixth of the season for McKeon and her third game-winner.
MSMC's senior goalie Megan Cotta (Brick, NJ/St. Rose) picked up the shutout win after making seven saves. Sage's senior goalie Brittany McDonald (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) took the loss after making 15 saves on the afternoon.
Sage returns to action on September 25 travelling to Bard College for a 1 p.m. Skyline Conference game, while the Knights of Mt. Saint Mary College host Polytechnic in a Skyline Conference match on Sunday, September 26 at noon.
