Utica, NY--The Sage Colleges women's soccer team recorded a 3-2 win on the road as they beat SUNY-IT on Monday. Sage is now 2-0 on the young season, while SUNY-IT drops to 0-2.

Sophomore forward Rebecca Marszalek (Adams, MA/Hoosac Valley) tallied the-game winner as she a posted the Gators' third goal of the match and helped the team survive a late-game rally from the Wildcats. Marszalek now has a team-high four goals this fall with an assist, elevating her career totals to 18 goals with four assists for 40 points.

Sage would jump out to a 1-0 lead as junior defender Amanda Potter (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) converted a feed from junior midfielder Ashley Allain (Stillwater, NY/Stillwater) at 10:54. Senior captain Krystal Cozzens (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) spotted the Gators to a 2-0 lead when she converted the feed from freshman forward Rebecca Doble (Troy, NY/Lansingburgh) at 26:23.

The Wildcats got on the scoreboard when they got a penalty kick goal from Jane Burrough's at 45:41. Marszalek gave Sage a 3-1 lead with her goal at 54:15, before SUNY-IT's Traci Bicklehaupt scored with less than 18 minutes left to play to pull within one goal.

 Sage's junior goalie Brittany McDonald (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) posted the win in net as she made six saves on 13 Wildcats shots and is now 2-0 in net. The Wildcats' Tyler Halie added five saves on the day on 10 shots with three goals allowed.  

Sage returns to action on September 12 when they travel to the Skidmore College Invitational when they will face Husson College in a 3:00 p.m. contest. Sage will take on Westfield State on Sunday, September 13 at 11:00 a.m. in the final day of the two-day tournament before returning home on September 20 to host SUNY-Cobleskill at 1:00 p.m. at Stillwater High School.
