Saratoga Springs, NY----Westfield State College's junior Kate MacLellan (Wilbraham, MA) would score the game-winning goal and assist on another goal in leading the Owls to a 2-0 win over The Sage Colleges in women's soccer in the final day of competition at Skidmore College's Invitational. Westfield State improves to 3-1-1, while Sage drops to 2-2.

Westfield's MacLellan would put the Owls on the scoreboard on a corner kick she served in from the left side at 5:27 and slipped into the bottom ride side of the goal for her first goal of the year. Sage would hold the Owls scoreless for the next 71 plus minutes until senior Meg Gearin (Groton, MA) converted a pass from MacLellan at 77:08 for the Owls' second goal of the match.

Sage's junior goalie Brittany McDonald (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) recorded 10 saves on the day and is now 2-2 in net. Westfield State's sophomore goalie Jessica Pieciak (Three Rivers, MA) recorded two   saves on the day for her third shutout of the year and second of the tournament as she is now 3-1-1 in net.

Sage returns to action on September 20 when they squad will host SUNY Cobleskill on Sunday, September 20 at Stillwater High School at 1 p.m. Westfield State College hosts the Elms College on September 15 at 7 p.m. in their next match.
