Women's Lacrosse Team places three on E 8 All-Conference Teams

Hilton, NY –  Russell Sage College's women's lacrosse team had three players saluted with the selection of the 2023 Empire 8 Women's Lacrosse All-Conference Teams on Monday.

RSC had three players placed on the third team as junior attacker Grace Hines (Schenectady, NY/Guilderland), junior midfielder Ashley Hearn (Waterloo, NY/Waterloo), and sophomore defender Angelina Schaefer (Latham, NY/Shaker) were all honored.

Hines wraps the season as the team's leading scorer with 50 goals and 12 assists. Her 62 points this year was a career-best for the junior, who now has 115 career points which is No. 2 all-time. Her 97 career goals ranks second highest as well, while her 18 career assists checks in at sixth best. Hines was 10-for-18 on converting free position goals this spring and racked up 35 ground ball pickups as well.

Hearn was a 13-game starter for the Gators and tallied 31 points on 18 goals and 13 assists. She added two game-winning goals with a team-best 50 ground ball pickups and 29 caused turnovers. She also won 33 draw controls.

Schaefer played in all 13 matches with 11 starts picking up 37 groundballs and causing 18 turnovers along the way.

One member of each team was named that institution's representative on the 2023 Women's Lacrosse Sportswoman of the Year Team. The Empire 8 Conference emphasizes that "Competing with Honor and Integrity" is an essential component of a student-athlete's experience in conjunction with an institution's educational mission. These honorees have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits as outstanding sportswomen. Earning that acclaim from RSC was Hearn.
