Walter tallies three points for Gators against Pioneers

Albany, NY –  Russell Sage College's women's lacrosse team played host to the Pioneers of Utica University on Wednesday afternoon in a key Empire 8 contest with post-season ramifications. Utica posted the 16-4 win to move to 7-6 overall and 3-2 in the Empire 8, while the setback puts RSC at 5-6 overall and 2-3 in the league.

Utica led 8-3 at the half en route to the road win as sophomore attacker Grace Stuhlman (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) led all scorers with six points on four goals with two assists.

 Sophomore Maddison Walter (Moreau, NY/South Glens Falls) led the Gators in the contest with her three points on two goals with an assist, while junior attackers Grace Hines (Schenectady, NY/Guilderland) and Alexandra Queeney (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) each scored a goal for RSC.

Hines leads the Gators this season with a personal-best 57 points on 46 goals with 11 assists while Queeney has a team-best 65 draw controls to go with her 42 points (29 g, 13 a).  Hines now has 110 career points which is second best all-time at RSC, while her 93 career goals is also second highest. Queeney stands fourth in career points with 93, while her 67 goals ranks fifth. She is closing in on the program's career draw control mark held by Monica Koralus (185) as she is second with 157.

Sophomore goalie Madalyn Walsh (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) made five saves in the game with four ground ball pickups and falls to 5-6 in net.

Looking ahead, the Gators will travel to St. John Fisher University for a 1 p.m. Empire 8 road contest, before closing the regular-season hosting Nazareth on April 29 at 4 p.m.
