RSC Falls to Hartwick in Empire 8 Women's Lacrosse Action

Albany, NY – Russell Sage College's women's lacrosse team returned to Empire 8 play on Wednesday hosting Hartwick College at ACP Stadium. Hartwick held a 3-2 lead at the end of the first quarter and took an 8-3 lead at the break. Sophomore midfielder Kristen Vaccarelli (Dix Hills, NY/Half Hollows West) scored five of her team-leading six goals in the second half to propel the Hawks to a 19-7 win.

Now 8-1 and 2-0 in the E8, Vaccarelli netted eight points on the day, including her 100th career point. She now leads the Hawks with 44 goals and 13 assists and has a team-best 57 points.

RSC (3-5, 0-2 Empire 8) was paced by the play of junior attacker Alexandra Queeney (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) as she had three goals and six draw controls.  She is now second on the career list with her 141 draw controls, while standing tied for fifth with her 83 career points and fifth in goals with 62.

Senior midfielder Caroline Musinski (Bennington, VT/Mt. Anthony Union) add a pair of goals. She ranks seventh with 77 career 50 goals ranks 11th all-time.

Sophomore midfielder Maddison Walter (Moreau, NY/South Glens Falls) also had two points on a goal and assist with a pair of ground ball pickups. Junior midfielder Ashley Hearn (Waterloo, NY/Waterloo) had four draw controls with an assist as well for the Gators.

Junior attacker Grace Hines (Schenectady, NY/Guilderland) added a goal as well in the contest, giving her a team-best 44 points on 35 goals and nine assists. On her career, she now ranks third with 97 career points and has 81 goals, which is third highest at RSC.

The Hawks had seven different players find the back of the net. Sophomore Hanna Goodreau (North Reading, MA/Bishop Fenwick) added five goals, while sophomore attacker Elle Stringer (Rensselaer, NY/Columbia) connected for five points on two goals with three assists.

Sophomore goalie Madalyn Walsh (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) made ten saves in the contests and falls to 3-5.  Hartwick's rookie goalie Maddi Morrison (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) recorded two saves and is 8-1 in net.

Looking ahead, the Gators travel to Alfred University for a 4 p.m. Empire 8 contest on April 8.
